The highly anticipated Game of Thrones season 4 premiered last night and the realm got overwhelmed with excitement! But instead of sending a raven, the show’s fans chose Twitter to spread the news.
For the past week, we’ve been monitoring Game of Thrones on the Twitterverse using our “Twitter Tracker” tool to gather all the Twitter stats you need to know. Let’s take a look:
- 1,058,149 tweets in total. Tweet
That’s like double the population of King’s Landing! This is the total amount of tweets for the six days we ran our tracker, from April 1 until April 6.
- 603,254 tweets in one day! Tweet
- The volume of tweets kept growing throughout the week and of course it went off the charts on the day of the premiere on Sunday.
- 117,907 tweets in one hour! Tweet
Looks like the realm went crazy right before the show started on Sunday. The peak of the day was more than 100k tweets in one hour!
- 80% positive tweets. Tweet
The Twitterverse was not disappointed over the new season of Game of Thrones as 80% of the tweets had a positive sentiment. It comes as no surprise though, that most of the negativity had to do with King Joffrey. Some of the fans actually joined a Twitter campaign to bring down the king! Can you blame them?
So tell us! How did you find the Game of Thrones premiere? Did you tweet about it?
