The Sochi Olympics are officially over but they sure left us with some unique, memorable Twitter moments. Let’s take a look:

Opening Ceremony

Who can forget the Olympic rings malfunction during the opening ceremony? Was it a sign for what was to follow? One thing’s for sure: this moment got tweeted like no other!

The Olympic rings mishap in the opening ceremony was definitely not the only problem of the Sochi Winter Olympics. There has been one Twitter phenomenon that became viral for sharing all that the official hosts would never dare tweet and that is no other than the @SochiProblems Twitter account.

Dutch Skating team

Yes, we are a Dutch company, and yes we might be biased since we are obsessed with skating but the Dutch speed skating team broke some amazing records in the Olympics! But not just the Olympics; Sven Kramer, gold medalist for Speed Skating Men’s 5,000m and Men’s team Pursuit became also a Twitter gold medalist, gaining 50,000 new followers in less than a month. The face expression of 22 year old figure skater Ashley Wagner from the US  was priceless. Ashley was not happy with the judges and she didn’t keep it to herself. The result? The #WagnerFace we all loved.

American bobsledder Johnny Quinn had a lot of unfortunate moments during the Sochi Olympics, but that was definitely Twitter’s favorite. Johnny got stuck in his hotel room’s bathroom and then this happened:

T.J Oshie became a hero for helping beat Russia in hockey, but he also became a hero on Twitter by gaining more than 150,000 new followers in five days and getting Barack Obama to tweet about him. Not too shabby…
